JRAD Debuts Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Band Covers At Brooklyn Bowl Finale [Videos]

March 2, 2021 | By admin | No Comments | Filed in: mtxrtiwaj.

first_imgJoe Russo’s Almost Dead wrapped up their three-night run at the Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday night, delivering yet another stand-out evening of Grateful Dead music that was nowhere near short of surprises. With multiple debut covers, endless teases, and sublime jamming, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead once again proved why they’re more than just a “cover band”.Right off the bat, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead opened the first set with a debut cover of The Rolling Stones‘ “The Last Time”, with Scott Metzger on vocals. The jam led straight into an appropriate “Shakedown Street”, which featured teases of Radiohead‘s “Myxomatosis” and was left unfinished. Immediately from there, the Radiohead teases continued on “The Other One”, which also teased “Estimated Prophet”. As the band’s manager Peter Costello notes in the Box Score, this show had “a lot of ins and outs”, as the Grateful Dead-inspired quintet muscled their chops through to the finish line. Watch the first set opener below, courtesy of nugs.tv.[Video: Nugs.tv]The seamless jams continued from “The Other One” to “Mission in the Rain”, which had not been played by JRAD since the band’s 3/17/17 show at the same venue, a 41 show gap. “Crazy Fingers” came next with a stand-out jam between keyboardist Marco Benevento and guitarist Tom Hamilton. The band utilized the notes of a quick “Last Time” instrumental jam to bridge the gap between “Crazy Fingers” and “Truckin’”, before closing the first set with a short instrumental jam of “The Other One”, a trick not utilized by JRAD since their 3/11/17 show at the same venue, a 43 show gap. After their break, the second set opened with a “Scarlet Begonias”-esque jam, which led into a short instrumental version of “Slipknot!”, before locking into the debut performance of “Foolish Heart”, sung by Tom Hamilton. “I Need A Miracle” came next, with unfamiliar teases coming from Hamilton, as well as a jam through WOLF‘s “Fastso’s Last Stand”. Watch the second set opener below.[Video: Nugs.tv]An energetic “Franklin’s Tower” followed, with full-band teases of “Foolish Heart” and “Throwing Stones”. Eventually, the song shifted into a full version of “Throwing Stones”, which thematically teased back “Franklin’s Tower” and “Foolish Heart”. The debut of Led Zeppelin‘s “Good Times Bad Times” came next as a full instrumental, before segueing back into “Throwing Stones”. Another debut followed, with a partial version of The Band‘s “Chest Fever”, as sung by drummer Joe Russo with some help from Tom Hamilton. Naturally, the second set concluded with a “Throwing Stones” reprise. The evening came to a definitive end with a reliable “One More Saturday Night” to close Joe Russo’s Almost Dead’s three-night run at the Brooklyn Bowl. Next up, the band heads to Syracuse’s Landmark Theatre and Portland’s State Theatre. Head to the band’s website for more information on upcoming shows.Watch more videos from last night below, courtesy of Moni Hampton. The Last Time / Shakedown StreetMission in the RainTruckinSlipknotFoolish HeartThrowing StonesSetlist: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead | Brooklyn Bowl | New York, NY | 3/10/2018 Set One: The Last Time @ > Shakedown Street # -> The Other One -> Mission In The Rain % -> Crazy Fingers ^ -> Last Time Jam & -> Truckin’ -> The Other One Jam *Set Two: Jam + -> Slipknot! @@ -> Foolish Heart ## -> Help On The Way -> Slipknot! $$ -> I Need A Miracle %% -> Franklin’s Tower ^^ -> Throwing Stones && -> Good Times Bad Times ** -> Throwing Stones -> Chest Fever ++ -> Throwing Stones RepriseENC: One More Saturday [email protected] – Rolling Stones Cover, First Time Played By Almost Dead, Sung by SM# – Unfinished, With “Myxomatosis” (Radiohead) Teases (Band)$ – With Myxomatosis” (Radiohead) Teases (Band) and an Estimated Prophet Tease (Band)% – Not Played by Almost Dead since 2017-03-17 Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY, a gap of 41 shows.^ – With a MB/TH duo Jam& – Short Instrumental version to connect Crazy Fingers to Trucking, First Time Played By Almost Dead* – Short Instrumental version to end Truckin, Not Played by Almost Dead since 2017-03-11 Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY, a gap of 43 shows.+ – With a Scarlet Begonias Tease (Band)@@ – Short Instrumental version to connect Jam to Foolish Heart## – First Time Played By Almost Dead, Sung by TH$$ – with a short Marco Solo, more “Myxomatosis” (Radiohead) Teases (Band), a DD Bass Solo and a “Havana” (Camila Cabello) jam%% – With an Unknown Tease (TH) and a “Fastso’s Last Stand” (WOLF) Jam,^^ – With Foolish Heart Teases (Band) and Throwing Stones Teases (Band)&& – With a Franklin’s Tower Jam and Foolish Heart Teases (Band)** – Led Zeppelin Cover, First Time Played by Almost Dead, done Bustle Style (instrumentally) with no lyrics song++ – The Band Cover, Partial version – 1st & 2nd verse I think & 2 refrains, First Time Played by Almost Dead, sung by JR, with some help from THThe whole show had numerous teases, jams & quick returns to Myxomatosis, Foolish Heart, Slipknot!, The Other One, Terrapin, Throwing Stones and probably a ton of other tunes I missed.last_img read more

McIlroy makes slow start

September 21, 2020 | By admin | No Comments | Filed in: ercinbyyl.

first_img Starting from the 10th, the world number two missed short putts to bogey the 11th and 12th before hitting back with a birdie on the short par-four 13th. At one over par he was three off the early lead shared by English duo Mark Foster and Paul Waring, Australian Andrew Dodt and American Tyler McCumber, son of former US Tour player Mark McCumber. McIlroy won five times last year, including his second major title in the US PGA Championship at Kiawah Island, but has struggled to reproduce that form in 2013. The 24-year-old finished 41st in the US Open at Merion a fortnight ago and yesterday apologised for throwing a club and bending his nine iron out of shape during a final round of 76. The nine iron – one of the Nike clubs he controversially changed to in a multi-million pound deal in January – has since gained a new shaft, but McIlroy’s putting was more the problem as he dropped two shots in his first three holes. Rory McIlroy’s bid for a first win of the season got off to a slow start today as light rain greeted the early starters in the first round of the Irish Open.center_img Press Associationlast_img read more

‘Reclaim the Economy by Becoming Entrepreneurs’

January 14, 2020 | By admin | No Comments | Filed in: kkcykwsge.

first_imgMr. John B.S. Davies III, President of the Liberia Bank for Development and Investment (LBDI), has told graduates of the University of Liberia (UL) College of Business and Public Administration to reclaim the Liberian economy by creating opportunities for themselves through entrepreneurship rather than simply relying on jobs, which he said are now in limited supply in the private sector. “Today we witness a different dynamic in time. Supply of men and women on the job market seems to quadruple the demand quite strangely,” said Mr. Davies when he delivered the commencement address at the college’s graduation yesterday. More than 1,000 students received bachelor degrees in economics, public administration, accounting and management. Mr. Davies spoke on the topic “Relevance of business education in the roll out of our post war reconstruction program as encapsulated in the agenda for transformation.” He said less than 10 percent of business graduates are business owners and self-employed with the capability to employ others. “This situation has to change if many more youth must be encouraged to embrace education as the path to what in the words of the late Professor Joe Weatu Elliot, former chairman of the [UL] management department, who said ‘critical thinking and analytical reasoning are the necessary ingredients for emancipation from mental slavery and intellectual decadence,”’ Mr. Davies said. He said that the college was founded to provide the necessary training that would be required to build the country’s succeeding generations of business leaders and entrepreneurs, to provide the springboard from which the economy will be well within the control of Liberians and to serve a catalytic role in the tedious task of wealth creation and labor employment for the capable young people of the nation who have shown to deserve a chance.Reflecting on his time at the university dating back seventeen years ago when he and more than 400 others graduated from the college, the guest speaker said it was not lost on them that the university was perceived as the institution with the three Ds—difficult to enter, difficult to pass through and difficult to exit successfully. “The attrition rate was more than 50%, but in fairness to our days, the assimilation rate in the job market was also higher than 50%,” he recollected. “The University was seen as that great beacon of hope. The hope that being a truck loader in the Free Port of Monrovia or a gasoline seller by jars along the streets of metropolitan city of Monrovia, or even a peanuts or cookies seller, as some of us in college managed to do as a means of getting by, were only temporary chores intended to keep you out of financial troubles while keeping your prime focus on your school work,” he added.Davies said those were the days when one’s ability to land the dream job of his/her expectations lay in his/her hands, adding, “The incentive to be better at every opportunity was far too appealing to spend time in needless idleness and indolence.”Mr. Davies proffered two recommendations, saying, “It is about time that we review our programs and products from the job market demands perspective rather than the academician perspective; we must find resources to strengthen the business intelligence and research arm of the College of Business.”Speaking earlier, the Dean of the College, Associate Professor Geegbae A. Geegbae said the university received a grant of US $400,000 from the World Bank for capacity building.“The main objective of the project was to upgrade the accountancy program of the department to meet international standards with the following deliverables satisfactorily met,” he said. He said the grant served the purpose of developing the college faculty through faculty visits to the University of Michigan to improve teaching by strengthening faculty capacity, revamped the undergraduate and graduate accounting degree curricula, setting up of a modern computer laboratory, the purchase of text books and the provision of foreign scholarships. For his part, the valedictorian of the graduating class, Genesis B. Kollie, reminded his fellow graduates to make use of their individual comparative advantage, stating, “Fellow graduates, let us know that everyone of us has comparative advantage that we can make efficient and effective use of.”“If you studied accounting, your comparative advantage is in accounting; if you studied economics, your comparative advantage is in economics; if you studied management, your comparative advantage is in management; and if you studied public administration, your comparative advantage is in public administration,” he urged. “By identifying our comparative advantages, we, the microcosm of our larger society, will identify our potential, and we would always have better outputs, qualitatively and quantitatively.” Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
