first_imgMahindra & Mahindra-owned Automobili Pininfarina has revealed the luxury electric hypercar Battista at the Geneva Motor Show. Battista is the first solely Pininfarina-badged car and upon its launch in 2020, it will be the most powerful road-legal car ever designed and produced in Italy.Battista is the result of a collaboration between the Automobili Pininfarina design team and Pininfarina SpA. The latter will also hand-build every Battista in Cambiano, Italy. The company plans to produce only 150 Battistas and allocate them equally between the regions of North America, Europe and Middle East/Asia.”Today marks a significant step for the launch of a range of Pininfarina-branded cars beginning with the Pininfarina Battista, a car whose name alone fills us with pride. It will be the most powerful Italian-built sports car in history, the first luxury hypercar to be conceived in Italy and will deliver ground-breaking all-electric performance in a beautiful body,” Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke said.”This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather (Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina) always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring,” Pininfarina SpA Chairman Paolo Pininfarina said. The all-electric hyper GT gets a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and visually stunning carbon fibre body. The power and torque will be 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm, respectively. Battista can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in less than two seconds, which is faster than a current Formula 1 car. It can make 300 kmph in less than 12 seconds and achieve a top speed of up to 350 kmph. The company claims a range of 450 kilometres for the hypercar.advertisementThe weight distribution of the T-shaped 120 kWh battery pack is configured to optimise Battista’s dynamic potential, with four motors independently distributing torque and power to each wheel. Cooling circuits and systems are based around five radiators. Massive, carbon-ceramic six-piston brakes (390 mm at the front and 390 mm at the rear) provide fade-free deceleration. The active rear wing features an air brake function.According to the company, Battista’s suspension is tuned specifically to deliver a thrilling, engaging and yet comfortable dynamic experience. The driver will be able to electronically adjust the dynamic experience through multiple modes tuned to a range of driving scenarios and will also be able to tailor the noise the 1,900 hp hypercar makes. Its on-board sound programme will focus on using vehicle hardware to generate acoustic entertainment, rather than generate artificial sounds.ALSO READ | 2019 Range Rover Sentinel revealed, gets more powerful 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engineALSO READ | Gypsy no more!
