first_imgSome views are worth waking up for. We reckon this is one of the best this morning.WHETHER you like horseriding, quad biking, playing soccer or relaxing in a cigar and scotch room, there’s room for you at 15 Fletcher Close, Camp Mountain. This four-year-old homestead was built by Kylie and Wayne McGauley to keep their four boys entertained while they enjoyed the quiet country life less than half an hour from Brisbane. There are five bedrooms at 15 Fletcher Close, with the main in its own wing of the house. That, combined with the 1.5 hectare grounds with views to the mountains, makes for a lot of property to fit in to.A kitchen and bar area open on to a covered entertaining area and adjoining inground pool. The salt water pool with Canary Island palm trees. The cigar and scotch room is hiding behind a giant barn door just off the entrance. While they leave the property to move closer to Brisbane Airport for work, Mrs McGauley hopes another family that values a country upbringing will take over the home. Be part of the conversation while experimenting in the kitchen. The property has two 22,000 litre water tanks plumbed into the house and a bore is used to water the gardens. Ranieri begins Fulham reign odds-on for Premier League drop

December 21, 2019 | By admin | No Comments | Filed in: tdruvkbqd.

first_imgClaudio Ranieri took over as Fulham boss last week.New Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri has his work cut out for him at Craven Cottage to keep the West London club in the Premier League, according to bookmakers.Ahead of his first game in charge – a home match with fellow strugglers Southampton, coached by ex-Whites boss Mark Hughes – Fulham are odds-on to end the season with relegation straight back to the EFL Championship. This is despite a favourable festive fixture list that sees Ranieri’s new team play four of the seven sides immediately above them in the Premier League table at the time he took the job.Fulham have the worst defensive record in the top flight by some way after recruiting heavily in the summer and the rearguard is scarcely recognisable from the one used by Slavisa Jokanovic in their promotion campaign last term.A key date for the diary is Wednesday, December 5 as Ranieri faces former club Leicester City – the side he managed to a miraculous and against-all-odds Premier League title triumph in 2016 – for the first time since his sacking from the East Midlands outfit.Ranieri led Leicester to the title in 2016. [Picture: Nick Potts/PA Wire]Fulham host the Foxes at the Cottage and – as with subsequent games with West Ham, fellow promoted side Wolves and relegation rivals Huddersfield Town – taking points off these teams in and around the dogfight at home will be vital. There is also a trip to Newcastle United, who are really lacking strength in depth, to consider. If “The Tinkerman” is able to work his magic in time for that string of potentially winnable games before and during Christmas, then the 13/10 price with moplay.co.uk about the Whites staying up cannot be dismissed entirely.Upon replacing Jokanovic with Ranieri, Fulham chairman Sahid Khan described the new manager as “risk-free and ready-made for the Premier League”. Every change of coach comes with risks, however, and the Italian has a very different message for Whites fans since his appointment.Ranieri’s mantra is hard work and fostering spirit, while he was quick to draw a line under the “miracle” of his Premier League title at Leicester when unveiled as Whites boss. The slate, it seems, is wiped clean.Yet Khan is right to an extent. Ranieri does bring a ton of Premier League experience – nearly 300 games in English football as a manager – to the table, albeit much of it at the other end of the table.Relegation battles are not entirely foreign to him, however, as he saved the often troubled Parma back in 2007, who have met oblivion and been reformed since. While Fulham are probably lacking that Serie A side’s cult status from Football Italia in the 1990s, they do have a number of well-regarded players who are yet to really gel.Ivory Coast midfielder Jean Michael Serri was one of the coup captures of the summer at the Cottage (on paper at least), having previously been linked with a host of top European clubs. Andre Schurrle, meanwhile, is a World Cup winner with Germany and a winger who has real form as an impact sub.Left-sided player Ryan Sessegnon is only a teenager and widely touted to go to the very top. Whether the likes of him and Serri stick around at Fulham for the long haul or just use Craven Cottage as a springboard remains to be seen.If Ranieri cannot find the right blend, then the Whites are 11/4 to finish bottom – the spot they occupy as his tenure begins. CMA CGM Boxship Grounded due to Improper Pilotage Plan

October 23, 2019 | By admin | Comments Off on CMA CGM Boxship Grounded due to Improper Pilotage Plan | Filed in: adzvswdvm.

first_imgzoom The 18,000 TEU containership CMA CGM Vasco De Gama ran aground in August 2016 as it was too far north of the intended track when it started turning into the Thorn Channel near the Port of Southampton. The 399-meter-long ship grounded on the western side of the channel in the early morning hours of August 22 with two Southampton pilots aboard. The ship’s position at the time of the turining into the Thorn Channel reduced the sea room available for the manoeuvre and, given the environmental conditions, CMA CGM Vasco de Gama was unable to sustain the rate of turn required to remain in the dredged channel, a report released by the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) showed. The execution of the vessel’s turn around Bramble Bank and into the Thorn Channel by the lead pilot was not in accordance with the port’s guidance for large inbound vessels.CMA CGM Vasco de Gama’s bridge team, assistant pilot and the Vessel Trafic Services, could not usefully monitor the lead pilot’s actions, or the vessel’s progress through the Precautionary Area, because “a detailed pilotage plan had not been produced; the lead pilot’s intended manoeuvre around Bramble Bank was not explained; the bridge team roles and responsibilities were unclear; and the electronic navigation aids on board were not fully utilised.”The investigation identifed that the vessel’s bridge team and the port pilots had the experience, knowledge and resources available to efectively plan and execute the pilotage. However, the standards of navigation displayed during the pilotage fell short of the standards expected by CMA Ships and Associated British Ports.“It was apparent that complacency and a degree of over confidence on the part of the master and port pilots contributed to this accident,” MAIB said.Actions have been taken by CMA Ships and Associated British Ports to address some of the issues identifed in this report and to improve navigational safety.MAIB added that recommendations aimed at reducing the likelihood of future groundings and improving levels of navigation, bridge resource management, and use of electronic navigation aids have been made to CMA Ships and Associated British Ports.last_img read more

The Incredibly Fast Rise of Googles New Product Chief

August 30, 2019 | By admin | Comments Off on The Incredibly Fast Rise of Googles New Product Chief | Filed in: oysnvzlet.

first_img 5 min read This story originally appeared on Fortune Magazine When Google announced that it had built a Web browser on Labor Day in 2008, the event represented something of a coming out party for Sundar Pichai, a little-known and soft-spoken middle manager at the company. Based on how the launch went, no one would have predicted that six years later, Pichai would be where is today—a clear No. 2 to CEO Larry Page following a management shakeup late last week.Indeed, the launch of the Chrome browser was something of a debacle. Google  had worked hard behind the scenes to orchestrate a media splash. It had readied talking points to explain why it was reigniting a browser war with Microsoft, and why its erstwhile ally, Mozilla, maker of the Firefox browser, shouldn’t worry. As part of it, the company had secretly produced an elaborate, 38-page comic book that explained the unique features of Google’s browser. It was expected to land in the mailboxes of journalists and bloggers on that Tuesday just as they returned from the three-day weekend. But the comic books arrived in Germany on Monday, and it was not a holiday there. After a German blogger posted the comic book online, the Chrome team had to scramble to handle the fiasco. Top executives, including Pichai’s boss at the time, Marissa Mayer, were summoned to the Googleplex. After quick but spirited debate, the team decided to move up the announcement by a day. As engineers scrambled to make Chrome available for download from Google’s network of data centers, public relations staff started to alert reporters—most of whom where on holiday—one by one.Embarrassing as it was, the snafu was quickly forgotten. Chrome, which launched amid skepticism that it could make inroads against the dominant browsers of the time, Internet Explorer and Firefox, became a runaway hit. It is now the No. 1 browser in the world, with a market share that’s more than twice that of the once dominant Internet Explorer, according to StatCounter. Its success paved the way for a series of related strategically important products including Chrome OS, Chromebooks, and Chromecast. And it became the engine that powered Pichai through one of the fastest corporate ascents in the technology industry.Inside Google, however, Pichai had already made his mark as a director of product management for an obscure but important weapon in the company’s arsenal: the Google toolbar. The toolbar was critical because it helped Google make its search engine the default option on IE and Firefox. And Pichai’s role in leading the product as it came under attack from Microsoft, helped cement his standing in the company, as detailed in a Fortune story titled The Dawn of the Chrome Age earlier this year:”Chrome had another, less public mission: to defend the search engine that accounts for most of Google’s $59.8 billion in 2013 revenues and $12.9 billion in profits. Since 2000, Google had distributed a browser toolbar that made its search engine the default on IE and Firefox. (The toolbar also allowed Google to track users’ surfing habits.)The toolbar — as geeky and benign as it sounds — was a key locus of Google’s combat with Microsoft. Pichai was the group’s leader, and by the mid-aughts he worried that Microsoft would modify IE to make it more difficult, or even impossible, for users to install the toolbar. In a series of sometimes tense conversations with top brass around the time of a major update to IE in October 2006, Pichai argued that Microsoft could threaten a sizable chunk of Google’s business, according to two executives who were there. “It was a doomsday-like scenario,” one of the executives says. Shortly after, Google execs gave Chrome the green light.”After the launch of Chrome, Pichai was promoted to vice president and later to senior vice president. He was given oversight for Google’s apps, including Gmail, and became a member of the exclusive L-team, the small group of executives who report directly to Page. And when Android creator Andy Rubin left to begin a secret robotics project within Google, Page put Pichai in charge of Android as well. With his latest promotion, which is meant to allow Page to focus on longer term issues and on pushing products forward without the overhead of having too many direct reports, Pichai will now also oversee products like search, maps, Google+, commerce, ad products and infrastructure. That’s the vast majority of Google’s enterprise, with the exception of YouTube and other semi-independent units like Nest, Google X, and Calico. Just six years ago, he was one of dozens of mid-level Googlers with the title of director of product management.Pichai, 42, is a native of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He attended university in India before obtaining a graduate degree in engineering and materials science at Stanford. He earned an MBA at the Wharton School and worked at McKinsey and Applied Materials before joining Google in 2004. He is universally well-liked at Google, where he seems to enjoy a “warm, easygoing rapport” with Page, as well as outside the company. When news of his latest promotion to head all of Google’s products came out last week, venture capitalist Om Malik, a former blogger, tweeted what was in the mind of many: “Proof nice guys can win.” October 28, 2014 Free Webinar | Sept 5: Tips and Tools for Making Progress Toward Important Goals Attend this free webinar and learn how you can maximize efficiency while getting the most critical things done right. A WordPress plugin vulnerability is leaking Twitter account information of users making

August 26, 2019 | By admin | Comments Off on A WordPress plugin vulnerability is leaking Twitter account information of users making | Filed in: zuwmcftfp.

first_imgBaptiste Robert, a French security researcher who goes by the online handle Elliot Alderson, has found a vulnerability in a WordPress plugin called Social Network Tabs. The plugin leaks user’s Twitter account information exposing them to compromise. This WordPress plugin is developed by Design Chemical, which allows websites to help users share content on social media sites. MITRE has assigned the vulnerability CVE-2018-20555. In a twitter thread, Elliot described the details of the bug on Thursday. Per Elliot, the WordPress Plugin is leaking twice the Twitter access_token, access_token_secret, consumer_key and consumer_secret of their user which is leading to a takeover of their Twitter account.  This was caused by the few lines of code which was within the page where the Twitter widget is displayed. Anyone who viewed this code had access to see the linked Twitter handle and the access tokens. If the access token had read/write rights, the attacker was also able to take over the account and there were 127 such accounts. Elliot tested the bug by searching PublicWWW, a website source code search engine. He was able to find 539 websites using the vulnerable code. He then managed to retrieve access tokens using a script including the Twitter access_token, access_token_secret, consumer_key and consumer_secret from 539 vulnerable websites. According to Elliot, this leak compromised over 446 Twitter accounts with 2 verified accounts and multiple accounts with more than 10K+ followers. The full list of accounts is also made public by him. Elliot talked to Techcrunch about the vulnerability, saying that he had told “Twitter on December 1 about the vulnerability in the third-party plugin, prompting the social media giant to revoke the keys, rendering the accounts safe again. Twitter also emailed the affected users of the security lapse of the WordPress plugin but did not comment on the record when reached.” However, this is not the case. On January 17, he mentioned in a tweet that, “With a simple Google search query, “inurl:/inc/dcwp_twitter. php?1=“, you can find that a lot of websites and so Twitter accounts are still vulnerable to this issue. This query returns 3550 results.” He has also written a scraper to automatically extract the keys from the result of this Google search query.
