Nine Referees Approved by FIFA Referee Committee for 2019

Kanneh,Jr, four of the nine Liberian referees approved by FIFA Referee Committee(Photo: Anthony Kokoi)Nine Liberian referees have been approved by Referees Committee of football world governing body (FIFA) to officiate in international football competitions in 2019.The nine referees were selected from 12 names submitted by the Liberia Football Referee Committee. According to a release from the Liberia Football Association, a communication from FIFA thanked the local football house for nominating international referees for 2019.A release from the LFA listed the names of referees and assistant football referees have been approved by the FIFA Referee Committee. Center Referees accepted by FIFA include, Jerry S. Yekah, George S. Rogers, Jr., newly appointed Security General Isaac T. Z. Montgomery and Hassan Corneh, while Johnson Gbartea, Abraham Boye Fahnbulleh, Sekou S. Kanneh, Jr. and Joel Wanka Doe were the Assistant Referees accepted.FIFA has also accepted Sylvina Welma Garnett as Female International referee from Liberia for 2019. Leeds footballer charged with violent offences linked to stabbing

first_imgLeeds United footballer Mallik Wilks has appeared in court charged with violent offences linked to a stabbing in Leeds.The 19-year-old, who is currently on loan at Doncaster Rovers, entered not guilty pleas to a charge of violent disorder and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Wilks has been granted unconditional bail, report the Yorkshire Evening Post, and will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on November 21.The incidents were alleged to have occured at the city’s West Indian Carnival on August 28, 2017 and relate to an incident which saw a 23-year-old man stabbed.Wilks is alleged to have “used or threatened unlawful violence and…as such would cause a person of reasonable firmness to fear for his or her safety”.The assault occasioning actual bodily harm offence is said to have also taken place on the same day.Prosecutor Maggie Cavanagh is pushing for the case to move to the Crown Court due to the seriousness of the charges.Wilks is rated as one of Leeds’ brightest young talents.He made his first-team debut in January 2017 and is currently on a six-month loan with Doncaster.He has netted five goals in 17 appearances for Rovers and is due to return to Elland Road in January. 1center_img Mallik Wilks has made one appearance for Leeds, in the FA Cup clash with Sutton last_img read more
