first_imgLiverpool new boy Roberto Firmino has been warned he’s made a mistake by signing for the Anfield giants. The Brazilian has completed a £29million move to Merseyside, subject to a medical, but German football expert Jonathan Harding believes he has chosen the wrong club. The Hoffenheim star was also linked with Manchester United, with reports earlier this month claiming a deal had been done, and Harding says that would have been a better move.He told Hawksbee & Jacobs: “Liverpool have done good business in signing him, but I’m not sure it’s good business at that price.“I think he’ll do well for Liverpool, but he might need a bit of time [to settle in]. He’s definitely ready for the next step, though.“Personally, I think Manchester United would have been a better move for him. I think that would have been a better fit for him. They are more in need of a ‘10’, while Liverpool have Philippe Coutinho, who seems to do a pretty good job there. They have more issues at hand and I don’t understand why they have bought another playmaker when they have more pressing issues.“And I don’t think Brendan Rodgers is the man to take Firmino on.”Rodgers knows he must start this season well or the pressure on him will build to incredible levels, particularly with Jurgen Klopp currently out of work and available. And Harding claims the former Borussia Dortmund chief would be perfect for Liverpool.“Klopp would be a huge success at Liverpool,” he added. “He’s charismatic, which is what Liverpool have been missing in recent managers. He’d be a fantastic fit. He loves traditional clubs and is full of passion. He is all about the football and less about the politics, and he knows exactly how to work the media.“But Rodgers is under pressure irrespective of [the availability of] Klopp and I think the signing of Firmino is something he will have to live or die by.”last_img
